Webinar - NFPA 70E: Importance of Risk Assessment in Electrical Safety Programs

49:08
Risk reduction is the foundation of a profound electrical safety program. Electrical safety is all about minimizing risks to acceptable levels that protect both workers and employers from devastating effects of electrical shock and arc-flash hazards. Electrical safety is only achieved when the equipment design, safety controls, policies and procedures all come together in harmony when a task is performed by the worker. No piece of equipment, device, or a safety policy by itself can make a system absolute safe. It is imperative that employers thoroughly understand, identify, analyze, and evaluate the risks their workers’ are exposed to while performing their tasks and implement robust risk control techniques and procedures in place to protect their workforce. Recent changes to NFPA 70E, 2018 standard puts more emphasis in risk assessment area by introducing risk control hierarchy to the standards section and further added human factors, such as human error to the risk assessment. This webinar will focus on the basic principles of risk management, hierarchy of risk controls, hazard based and task based risk assessment methods. Additional topics of discussion will include changes to NFPA 70E on risk assessment, guidance and sample job hazard analysis examples with risk quantification calculations in mechanical and electrical lockout/tagout tasks. John Kolak is an award-winning author and Certified Safety Professional (CSP).

job safety analysis (JSA)

12:38
A job safety analysis (JSA) is a procedure which helps integrate accepted safety and health principles and practices into a particular task or job operation. In a JSA, each basic step of the job is to identify potential hazards and to recommend the safest way to do the job. Objective of JSA is to help in carrying out job safely. Identifying Hazards at each step of job • Identifying safety hazards at each step of job • Developing safe job procedures for each step of job Benefits of JSA:  The major advantages of this method include that it does not rely on individual memory and that the process prompts recognition of hazards.  An advantage of this method is that more people are involved in a wider base of experience and promoting a more ready acceptance of the resulting work procedure.  The analysis process may identify previously undetected hazards and increase the job knowledge of those participating.  A JSA, or better still, a written work procedure based on it, can form the basis for regular contact between supervisors and workers. It can serve as a teaching aid for initial job training and as a briefing guide for infrequent jobs. 1.1.1.1.1 Jobs included in JSA: • Jobs with the highest injury or illness rates; • Jobs with the potential to cause severe or disabling injuries or illness, even if there is no history of previous accidents; • Jobs in which one simple human error could lead to a severe accident or injury; • Jobs that are new to your operation or have undergone changes in processes and procedures; and • Jobs complex enough to require written instructions.

Hazard ☠️Vs Risk and ❗Risk Assessment📝✏️🥤🍊 (HACCP Training part Two )

06:35
Part Three : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrgmTJ0PU9A Orange Juice 🍊🍷Raw Materials & Packaging Material🥤🍼 Risk Assessment Part Four : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVMWM3koQJg Allergens 🥚🥛and Non Allergens🍖🥩🐄Risk Assessment In this Video we will explain the Difference Between Hazard and Risk 1. The term “hazard” is not to be confused with the term “risk” which, in the context of food safety, means a function of the probability of an adverse health effect (e.g. becoming diseased) and the severity of that effect (e.g. death, hospitalization) when exposed to a specified hazard. 2. Risk is the effect of uncertainty, and any such uncertainty can have positive or negative effects. In the context of organizational risk management, a positive deviation arising from a risk can provide an opportunity, but not all positive effects of risk result in opportunities. 3. Food safety hazard biological, chemical or physical agent in food with the potential to cause an adverse health effect also hazards include allergens and radiological substances. 4. In the context of feed and feed ingredients, relevant food safety hazards are those that can be present in and/or on feed and feed ingredients and that can through animal consumption of feed be transferred to food and can thus have the potential to cause an adverse health effect for the animal or the human consumer. In the context of operations other than those directly handling feed and food (e.g. producers of packaging materials, disinfectants), relevant food safety hazards are those hazards that can be directly or indirectly transferred to food when used as intended . Hazard Assessment The organization shall conduct, for each identified food safety hazard, a hazard assessment to determine whether its prevention or reduction to an acceptable level is essential. The organization shall evaluate each food safety hazard about: a) the likelihood of its occurrence in the product prior to application of control measures; b) the severity of its adverse health effects in relation to the intended use a) The methodology used shall be described, and the result of the hazard assessment shall be maintained as documented information. Important Definitions 1. Hazard : A physical, chemical, biological, or radiological agent in, or condition of, foodstuffs with the potential to adversely affect health or business. 2. Physical hazard : A hazard originating from foreign material . 3. Biological hazard : A hazard derived from viral, parasitic, bacterial or fungal origin. 4. Chemical hazard : A hazard originating from a substance that could cause injury or illness. 5. Radiological hazard : A hazard originating from sources of radiation 6. Allergen hazard : A hazard originating from sources of Allergen Food Ingredients 7. Non Halal Raw Materials Hazard are very significant in HALAL companies 8. Hazard analysis : The process of collecting and evaluating information on hazards and conditions leading to their presence and/or growth, to decide which are significant to food safety. 9. Risk assessment: A structured evaluation of the hazard in terms of its severity and likelihood of its occurrence. HACCP Principle 1 : Conducting Hazard Analysis 1- Hazard analysis is conducted in line with each flow diagram to determine which hazards need to be controlled, the degree of control required, and which combination of controls are required to ensure food safety. 2- Hazard analysis starts with appropriate reference material: - a) External information, including epidemiological and other food safety related data b) Information from the food chain on food safety hazards that may be of relevance for the food safety of the end product c) Experience 3- Hazard analysis is done on each step of the process flow by: - 1. Identifications of a physical, chemical, biological, or radiological hazard 2. The specific detail of the hazard 3. A quantitative scoring that captures both the severity and likelihood of occurrence 4. The application of the decision tree where required to further determine an appropriate category of control The HACCP Team from the following Departments: 1- Top Management 2- Quality Assurance / Quality Control / Food Safety / Laboratory under the Umbrella of Quality Management 3- Production Department 4- Maintenance / Engineering Department 5- Purchasing / Procurement Department 6- Logistics and Warehouses Department 7- Sales Department Risk Assessment Control Measure Example • From 1 – 4 = Low Risk • From 5 – 10 = Med Risk • From 12 – 25 = High Risk Food Safety Training 2018 food safety training video 2017 , 2018 2018 تدريب سلامة الغذاء 2018 تدريب سلامة الأغذية voedselveiligheidsopleiding trajnimi për sigurinë ushqimore የምግብ ደህንነት ስልጠና սննդի անվտանգության ուսուցում ərzaq təhlükəsizliyi təhsili obuku o bezbednosti hrane обучение по безопасност на храните 食品安全培训 食品安全培訓 obuku o sigurnosti hrane školení o bezpečnosti potravin

David Vose: 4 huge mistakes risk managers make when performing risk analysis on a budget or project If you attended live, I know you enjoyed the webinar, because the informational value was enourmous. If you just about to watch it in replay, brace yourself. There is 95% this will forever change how you model risks inside the business plan, budget or investment project. Find out how many risk managers are overestimating risks by 3+ times when modeling risks and how to avoid this error. Learn why multiplying probability and impact makes no mathematical sense and actually produces a huge error in judgement. DAVID'S BOOKS: https://www.amazon.com/David-Vose/e/B001ITYQR0/ref=sr_ntt_srch_lnk_1?qid=1547814280&sr=8-1 DOWNLOAD THE MATH PAPER: https://www.vosesoftware.com/knowledgebase/whitepapers/pdf/perplexingmath.pdf Quantitative risk analysis involves a wide range of skills and tasks that risk modelers need to have mastered before embarking on an important risk analysis of their own. Among the most over-looked and underestimated of these skills is knowledge of how to manipulate variables within Monte Carlo simulation models which is the standard modeling technique for risk analysis. Most risk analyses are performed using Excel with a Monte Carlo add-in like our software, ModelRisk. There is a widely held belief that one can take a standard spreadsheet model (e.g. a cashflow model with EBITDA or NPV calculation) and simply replace any value within that model that is uncertain with a function that generates random samples from some distribution to reflect its uncertainty. People mistakenly think that the rest of the model’s logic can be left unchanged. And it really does matter. Incorrect manipulation of uncertain variables in a model will almost always produce simulation results with something close to the correct average value, which people use as a ‘reality check’, but completely wrong spread around that average value. The net effect is that decisionmakers are presented with a wildly inaccurate estimate of the uncertainty (risk) of the outcomes of different decision choices. Some may realize that the model results are unrealistic and dismiss them, while others won’t and will make very misguided decisions.

Preventive Maintenance – How is it related to Food Safety

48:36
Preventive Maintenance is a must to have Pre-Requisite Program if you want to be certified under a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standard. However, a Preventive Maintenace Program is much more than a requirement. Proper maintained equipment allows that the plant runs smoothly, which creates cost savings in the long run. It also prevents equipment from becoming a source for the introduction of hazards due to the lack of of performance (i.e. not achieving operational limits that prevent from falling below critical limits) or integrity (i.e. source of metal shavings) This seminar will focus on describing the properties of a Preventive Maintenance Program and how they relate to the maintenance of Food Safety. National Safety Month 2019

01:22
Every June is National Safety Month. This time of year promotes awareness and safety strategies to prevent leading causes of injuries and death in the workplace: https://www.targetsolutions.com/company-blog/national-safety-month-2019/ Each week focuses on a different source of risk for the work environment and offers tips for improving safety in your organization. TargetSolutions is recognizing this month by highlighting key safety and compliance training courses related to the themes of National Safety Month 2019. These online courses are designed to help reduce risk for the thousands of agencies using TargetSolutions’ dynamic training and operations management system. The weekly themes for National Safety Month 2019 have been broken down accordingly: Week 1: Hazard Recognition Week 2: Slips, Trips and Falls Week 3: Fatigue Week 4: Impairment Week 1 – Hazard Recognition The ability to recognize and avoid potential hazards allows individuals to protect themselves and others. Two courses in TargetSolutions online course library address communication standards regarding hazards. Hazard Communication covers the Hazard Communication Standard to help prevent chemical hazard incidents and potential adverse health effects. It also includes changes made to the standard in accordance with the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals. Right to Know (Hazard Communication) is an EMS continuing education course. It discusses how to implement HCS for the public sector, how to determine hazard classifications, how to interpret a Material Safety Data Sheet and procedures of Hazard Communications as presented in OSHA regulation 29 CFR 1910.1200 or 29CFR 1926.59. Week 2 – Slips, Trips and Falls As one of the most common injuries in the workplace, training to avoid slips, trips and falls reduces liability and improves workplace safety. Slips, Trips and Falls addresses the majority of general industry accidents and OSHA standards for walking and working surfaces for all permanent places of employment. Slips, Trips and Falls is designed for those working in public safety. Considering the added consequences of a fall at work, this course covers common hazards and safety techniques for EMTs and firefighters. Fall Protection covers causes of fall-related injuries, such as unstable working surfaces, and how guardrails, fall arrest systems and travel restriction systems can prevent such risks. Week 3 – Fatigue Mental and physical exhaustion can be major threats to workplace safety. Making your mental and physical health a priority can prevent fatigue and human error. Health & Wellness includes a comprehensive overview of basic concepts for maintaining good health. Taking care of your physical and mental health is essential to performance. Emotional Survival in Law Enforcement addresses police culture, the symptoms of physical and mental stress, and healthy coping mechanisms to avoid the negative consequences. Week 4 – Impairment The use of drugs or excessive use of alcohol has negative impacts on individual’s livelihoods, work productivity and families. These courses show how to identify impairment in the workplace and how to sensitively address it. Alcohol-Free Workplace covers the costs of alcohol abuse in the workplace. These costs range from poor performance, absences and liability issues such as workplace accidents. Drug-Free Workplace discusses the dangerous impact drug abuse can have on the workplace and provides useful information about commonly abused drugs and how to evaluate each element and subsidiary component of a safety and health program. Reasonable Suspicion of Alcohol/Drugs for Supervisors are two courses focusing on how to make a fair, reliable and reasonable suspicion of alcohol or drug abuse by employees.
