At the end of September my wife and I spent two days railfanning Alco lines in Eastern PA. On Saturday, 9/30 we took a trip to Scranton to chase the Delaware-Lackawanna. PT-98 was light power leaving Scranton, but just as we were getting ready to leave we heard on the scanner that the 3000 had failed with a blown auxiliary generator. So we caught them returning to drop the 3000 and pick up the 405 to replace it. While we were waiting the Steamtown shuttle went by the Radisson station hotel. The PT then proceeded to Tobyhanna for some BestWay cars and then on down to the gap to swap empties for their pickup. Sunday 10/1 we went down to West Chester to catch the tourist operation there. Running that day was the 4213 an ex-CP C424 which was rebuilt with a traction alternator replacing the original generator. It also has a good deal of modular electronics according to the conductor. While the sun was in and out all day, we managed to catch the train in the sun a few times. Enjoy!

New York City is known around the world for its high-priced real estate. After all, it is one of the most popular cities in the world, and millions of people are being crammed onto a small island that is only a few square miles. Besides the scarcity of real estate in comparison to the demand, much of the real estate is high in price because it is historic or features unique architectural design. You will find some of the most expensive homes in the world in New York, and not surprisingly, they are also some of the most spectacular homes you will ever see. We took a look inside one of New York’s most expensive homes: The Woolworth Estate. -------------------------------------------------- ►WELCOME TO HOME&IDEAS CHANNEL •Subscribe to HOME&IDEAS YouTube Channel : https://goo.gl/kmXXvu -------------------------------------------------- ►CONNECT WITH HOME & IDEAS ! •Google+ : https://goo.gl/5oYKeb •Twitter : https://goo.gl/xahrkn •Facebook : https://goo.gl/WS7XTq •Instagram : https://goo.gl/g9MQi6 •Pinterest : https://goo.gl/fTko4U

The Visual Paranormal crew spend's a night investigating Andy Gavin's Eatery and Pub in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The reports of paranormal activity at this notorious pub include disembodied voices, unexplained footsteps, toilets flushing by themselves and the apparition of a woman being seen in the pub. The building the pub now occupies was originally the private home of Dr. George E. Hill. It was later sold to James Kelley in 1895 who converted it to hotel where a miner committed suicide by hanging himself on one of the upper floors. The night's investigation leads to some startling activity that supports many of the claims. Visual Paranormal Investigators: Nell Ayres, Debbie Franks and Steve Galante. Visual Paranormal Investigations would like to extend a special thank you to Mr. Don Surace the current owner of Andy Gavin's Eatery and Pub.

Panther Creek was the first private Wild Plant Sanctuary designated by the PA DCNR. Located in Lackawanna and Wayne Counties in Northeastern PA, the waterfalls are in Lackawanna County. A walk down the Rails To Trails will lead you to the creek before it enters the Lackawanna River. Follow it upstream to see all the falls. The sanctuary is open to the public, but please follow the rules, it is designated to 50 feet on both sides of the creek, from the Rails To Trails up to Panther Bluff Pond. The lands that borders the creek is private on both sides. Thanks to John and Wyatt Barucky, whom I had to privilege to show the creek off to on this trip. Wyatt held his ground like a trooper and didn't care about getting wet after a few quick, cold crossings. Park by the tank and pick up the RTT trailhead off of Lord Avenue here: 41.59458, -75.48286. Pick up the creek around here: 41.60377, -75.46871.

From it’s earliest days the city of Scranton's grit and determination helped build this country. Generations of families before us worked the mines and stoked the furnaces that helped build America. The shining lights of the Electric City Sign carry us back to a time when the nation's first electric streetcars connected our neighborhoods. Scranton has always brought our deep culture and strong family traditions to life. Throughout it’s history, our people have always been proud to call this home. For 150 years it’s been a city were people look out for each other. A city where relationships with family, friends, and neighbors matter most. At Toyota of Scranton, we are proud to be named after our city and honored to be part of our community. Happy 150th Birthday Scranton. Just over one year ago i learned about something really amazing that was hiding in plain sight. The Dorrance Colliery Fan house is a small complex that was responsible for providing ventilation for the coal mine that was up river. This place houses three fans and one of them has already fallen apart due to rot and decay. So one year later i am taking a look to see how the place is holding up. I was also joined by someone new, my friend Brent is known as Exploring 570 and he filmed a video for this channel so check it out. Enjoy ►Exploring 570 https://goo.gl/aR5ooZ Please Note: Exploring Abandoned locations can be dangerous. I don't condone or encourage anyone to enter an Abandoned structure. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal. I simply go to document its history before it's gone and leave things the way I find them. I assume all the risks & responsibility in doing so. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. This is a video I put together of the legendary Concrete City known by many urban explorers. Come along with Becky and myself on a complete tour of this one of a kind ghost towns! Located in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania. Filmed on 3/3/2018. Concrete City was an early example of International Style architecture in the United States, 20 poured concrete two story double houses built as company housing in 1911 for select employees of the Delaware, Lackawana and Western Railroad's coal division in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania. It was eventually taken over by the Glen Alden Coal Company who, uninterested in paying for required improvements and unable to demolish it due to its robust construction, abandoned the property in 1924. It stands to this day, albeit in extreme disrepair. Currently, the site is commonly used by military, police, firefighters and recreational paintball players for staged games. In 1998, the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission declared Concrete City an historic site. In Memoriam ∙ John Calvert ∙ August 5, 1911 - September 27, 2013 On June 24-25, 2011 John Calvert was honored in NYC by Fantasma Magic. It was prior to his 100th birthday and it was an event to celebrate a century of magic. As his biographer, I had written ''John Calvert: Magic and Adventures Around the World." I was invited to interview Calvert at the Hotel Pennsylvania. A great crowd assembled along with two nights of shows and a wonderful party. The interview shown here along with film clips presents Calvert in various remembrances and is presented as a memorial to a renown master magician, actor, world traveler, pilot, yachtsman and adventurer. He lived 102 years and died in California. John Calvert, a charismatic showman, left behind a legacy that surely qualifies him as a "Legend of Legerdemain." By his side through all the years and at the time of his death was his faithful wife Tammy. - William V. Rauscher Special thanks to Roger Dreyer & Fantasma Magic for granting permission to use this footage, which was filmed in 2011 at the Magic on Manhattan convention. The overviews of John Calvert's life, career, and movies were made by Roger Dreyer & Fantasma Magic for the event as well. John Calvert interviewed by William V. Rauscher Mr. Rauscher wishes to thank Rory Feldman for his efforts and production skills in creating this memorial video. Monroeville, Alabama - Monroe County Heritage Museum The old Monroe County Courthouse (now the Monroe County Heritage Museum), designed by prominent Southern architect, Andrew Bryan, was built between 1903 and 1904. The Courthouse is one of two building designed by Bryan (a sister courthouse in LaGrange, Georgia was destroyed by fire), with the architectural style of Romanesque with a Georgian influence. The courthouse was the seat of most county offices and the site of court cases until the construction of the the new courthouse was completed in 1963. Today the building is on the National Historic Register and is a national literary Mecca. The old courthouse resembles the 1930s courtroom used for Harper Lee's fictional courtroom settings in To Kill a Mockingbird. Although the movie was not filmed here, the interior of the courthouse was used as a reference for the film version of the book, and houses the later acts of the amateur production. This is a three-part series on Monroeville, Alabama. [Filmed on January 6, 2013 in 1080p60] Dedicated to cubsrule2040 because he did not get to film these on his road trip. Also dedicated to elevatortimes/elevatorman155 because he was the first person to film these elevators back in 2009. These elevators have been (sadly) modernized. They used to be Dover because they were featured in a Dover print AD. The Ad also stated that these elevators were traction and were installed in 1974 (I think). You can probably still buy the AD on eBay. As you can tell in the video, the door operator belts need to be replaced.
