CAREERS IN DATA ANALYTICS - Salary , Job Positions , Top Recruiters

CAREERS IN DATA ANALYTICS - Salary , Job Positions , Top Recruiters What IS DATA ANALYTICS? Data analytics (DA) is the process of examining data sets in order to draw conclusions about the information they contain, increasingly with the aid of specialized systems and software. Data analytics technologies and techniques are widely used in commercial industries to enable organizations to make more-informed business decisions and by scientists and researchers to verify or disprove scientific models, theories and hypotheses. As a term, data analytics predominantly refers to an assortment of applications, from basic business intelligence (BI), reporting and online analytical processing (OLAP) to various forms of advanced analytics. In that sense, it's similar in nature to business analytics, another umbrella term for approaches to analyzing data -- with the difference that the latter is oriented to business uses, while data analytics has a broader focus. The expansive view of the term isn't universal, though: In some cases, people use data analytics specifically to mean advanced analytics, treating BI as a separate category. Data analytics initiatives can help businesses increase revenues, improve operational efficiency, optimize marketing campaigns and customer service efforts, respond more quickly to emerging market trends and gain a competitive edge over rivals -- all with the ultimate goal of boosting business performance. Depending on the particular application, the data that's analyzed can consist of either historical records or new information that has been processed for real-time analytics uses. In addition, it can come from a mix of internal systems and external data sources. Types of data analytics applications : At a high level, data analytics methodologies include exploratory data analysis (EDA), which aims to find patterns and relationships in data, and confirmatory data analysis (CDA), which applies statistical techniques to determine whether hypotheses about a data set are true or false. EDA is often compared to detective work, while CDA is akin to the work of a judge or jury during a court trial -- a distinction first drawn by statistician John W. Tukey in his 1977 book Exploratory Data Analysis. Data analytics can also be separated into quantitative data analysis and qualitative data analysis. The former involves analysis of numerical data with quantifiable variables that can be compared or measured statistically. The qualitative approach is more interpretive -- it focuses on understanding the content of non-numerical data like text, images, audio and video, including common phrases, themes and points of view. At the application level, BI and reporting provides business executives and other corporate workers with actionable information about key performance indicators, business operations, customers and more. In the past, data queries and reports typically were created for end users by BI developers working in IT or for a centralized BI team; now, organizations increasingly use self-service BI tools that let execs, business analysts and operational workers run their own ad hoc queries and build reports themselves. Big Data: The Canadian Opportunity

03:46
How can Canada excel in big data? This animated video considers how Canada’s primary industries — mining, energy, forestry and agriculture — can foster economic growth in Canada’s data-driven economy. Primary industries have invested more than $50 billion in “simple” sensors installed in machinery across the country. While these sensors are important to the operation of the machinery, they do not provide robust data sets for machine learning analysis. With quality data, Canadians could discover new opportunities to lower costs, reduce environmental impacts — including waste, emissions and land disturbances — and improve overall performance. Providing quality sensor data to start-ups and big data entrepreneurs through a national open-source library could enable the next generation of Canadians to develop large-scale, big data-based businesses poised to unlock the next “big idea” for Canada.

Data Analyst Vs Data Scientist | Difference Between a Data Scientist and a Data Analyst

Data Analyst Vs Data Scientist | Difference Between a Data Scientist and a Data Analyst https://acadgild.com/big-data/data-analytics-training-certification?aff_id=6003&source=youtube&account=dY2yDwUfZu0&campaign=youtube_channel&utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=da-vs-ds&utm_campaign=youtube_channel To learn how data scientists are different from data analysts just takes – seconds/minutes. So, let’s get started. First up, they’re not entirely different. Both careers are in demand and pay well. The average data analyst earns $ 65,470, while the average data scientist makes $ 120,931. The difference in salaries, however, indicates a difference in the skill sets of these professionals. Data scientists are advanced data analysts. They possess additional skills that allow them to do more with data. Data analysts generally access known data from a single source like a CRM to solve a given set of business problems. These problems are usually customer or user-centric. Data analysts aim to uncover new insights from known data that can help them resolve the chosen problems. They manage data on programs like Excel. They use SQL to raise queries and find the solutions they are looking for. Much of their work revolves around scanning existing data to identify new patterns and make new correlations. Sometimes, they work with engineers to create new data if the known data is insufficient. Lastly, they use Tableau to effectively communicate their findings. Data scientists can perform most of the tasks data analysts perform. Additionally, they possess data warehousing, machine learning, programming and statistical modeling skills that help them formulate the most-pressing questions businesses must look to answer. They are proficient in programs like - Python, R, SAS, Matlab, SQL, Pig, Hive, Scala and Hadoop. Their work is not restricted to what affects customers. And, it involves working with data from multiple and often disconnected sources. Data scientists possess greater business acumen than analysts. They are also more adept at visualizing data and communicating insights to varied audiences. Given the power of data in today’s world, data scientists can ask the ‘what if’ questions to business stakeholders and IT leaders to alter the course of businesses with powerful story-telling. For these reasons, they earn twice as much as data analysts. Now you know what sets data scientists apart from data analysts. Big Data and Hadoop Developer 2018 | Big Data as Career Path | Introduction to Big Data and Hadoop

04:26
https://acadgild.com/big-data/big-data-development-training-certification/ Big Data and Hadoop Developer 2018 | Big Data as Career Path | Introduction to Big Data and Hadoop Big Data is growing explosively bigger & bigger every day. Get to know what makes Big Data the next big thing. What is Big Data all about? Big Data has been described in multiple ways by the industry experts. Let’s have a look at what Wikipedia has to say. Big Data is a term for datasets that are so large or complex that traditional data processing applications are inadequate. To put it in simple words, Big Data is the large volumes of structured and unstructured data. Did You Know? • According to Wikibon and IDC, 2.4 quintillion bits are generated every day? • Did you know, the data from our digital world will grow from 4.4 trillion gigabytes in 2013 to 44 trillion gigabytes in 2020? • In addition to that, data from embedded systems will grow from 2% in 2013 to 10% in 2020 The sheer volume of the data generated these days has made it absolutely necessary to re-think how we handle them. And with growing implementation of Big Data in sectors like banking, logistics, retail, e-commerce and social media, the volume of data is expected to grow even higher. Other than its Sheer size, what else makes Big data so important? • Mountains of data that can be gathered and analyzed to discover insights ad make better decisions. • Using Big data, social media comments can be analyzed in a far timelier and relevant manner offering a richer data set. • With Big Data, banks can now use information to constantly monitor their client’s transaction behaviors in real time. • Big Data is used for trade analytics, pre-trade decision-support analytics, sentiment measurement, predictive Analytics etc. • Organizations in media and entertainment industry use Big Data to analyze customer data along with behavioral data to create detailed customer profiles. • In the manufacturing and natural resources industry, Big Data allows for predictive modeling to support decision making. What is Big Data and its importance in the near future Gartner analyst Doug Laney introduced the 3Vs concept in 2001. Since then, Big Data has been further classified, based on the 5Vs. • Volume – The vast amounts of data generated every second. • Variety – The different types of data which contribute to the problem, such as text, videos, Images, audio files etc. • Velocity – The speed at which new data is generated and moves around. • Value – Having an access to Big Data in no good unless we turn it into value • Veracity - Refers to the messiness or trustworthiness of the data. Why is Big Data considered as an excellent career path? According to IDC forecast, the Big Data market is predicted to be worth of $46.34 billion by 2018 and is expected to have a sturdy growth over the next five years. Big Data Salary: As per Indeed, the average salary for Big Data professionals is about 114,000 USD per annum, which is around 98% higher than average salaries for all job postings nationwide. And Glassdoor quotes the median salary for Big Data professionals to be 104,850 USD per annum. Big Data professionals get a high percentage of hike in salary and Data scientists get a very good hike up to 8.90% YOY. As the Big Data market grows, so does the demand for the skilled workforce? According to Wanted Analytics, the demand for Big Data skills is to increase by 118% over the previous year. Do you need more reasons to believe in the power of Big Data? EMC, IBM, Cisco, Oracle, Adobe, Amazon, Accenture are just a few of the top companies who are constantly looking for Big Data skills. With the right training and hands-on experience, you too can find your dream career in one of these top companies. The path to your dream job is no longer a mystery. What is Data Mining - Data Science Jargon for Beginners

02:37
In this video I am going to give a simple and beginner definition of what data mining is in data analytics. The data science industry is very complicated, so I want to define data mining for you today. ► Full Playlist Explaining Data Jargon ( https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_9qmWdi19yDhnzqVCAhA4ALqDoqjeUOr ) ► http://jobsinthefuture.com/index.php/2017/11/25/what-is-data-mining-data-science-jargon-for-beginners/ Data Mining. This term is nearly self explanatory, but let's dig into it (haha, dig into it, data mining) and define data mining a little more to clarify any details. Data Miners explore large sets of data in order to discover patterns in the sets. Data miners look for patterns in order to define medical, buying habits, food shortages, etc... If you are going into the field of Data Analytics you will most certainly be doing a great deal of data mining. Data mining is a mass scale version of looking through thousands of people's daily biographies. What I mean by "looking through people's biographies" is you will be trying to understand how people are responding the the situation you are researching via data. Let's say your company releases a new drug to the market. This drug has been tested to stop the process of breakdown in joints that often leads to rheumatoid arthritis. Your drug ships out to 10,000 trial patients. Now you have a 10,000 person data set to manage. As the trial operates and the patients report their daily experience with the new drug you are being flooded with data about the drug. It is your job as the data miner to find the patterns and insights in order to accurately determine whether the drug is safe or not, the drug needs improvements, or perhaps the drug is not as effective as the company had hoped. In a nutshell data mining is a data analysts daily routine of researching data sets in order to learn from the data. Data Analyst Job Description | What 4 Skills Will You Need To Be A Data Analyst?

04:38
In this video we are going to define the job description of a data analyst, what a data analyst does, and the best online course to become a data analyst. ► Full Playlist Explaining Data Jargon ( http://bit.ly/2mB4G0N ) ► Top 4 Best Laptops for Data Analysts ( https://youtu.be/Vtk50Um_yxA ) ► Break Into the Data Industry with the best data analytics online learning resources from Edureka! ( http://bit.ly/2yCbsac ) --- affiliate link to help support this channel!^ Currently the average pay for a data analyst is $76,419 on the button, according to glassdoor I receive a lot of questions about what it takes to become a data analyst and what is a data analyst. Clearing up what a data analyst does everyday and what that description means to someone looking to enter the data science industry What will you actually be asked to do on the day to day as a data analyst. ► Top 4 Responsibilities in the Daily Life of a Data Analyst: 1 ) Mathematics Although mathematics only makes up about 20% of the day to day life of a data analyst. It is still important to have a strong understanding of the foundations of mathematics. - Addition - Subtraction - Multiplication - Division - Most Importantly --- Statistics Data analytics is all about statistics. Most of the statistics will be handled by the tools you are working with, but in order to be a great data analyst it is best to know why the tools are producing specific results. A strong understanding of statistics will be useful to you. 2 ) Computer Programming You must be able to work proficiently in one or more computer programming languages. This make up for roughly 60%-70% of your daily work. in order to analyze data it must be queried (drawn) from a large data warehouse. You will use computer programming languages such as SQL, Python, and R to query data. Before we move on let me define the term Query, if it does not resonate with you. You need strong computer programming skills in order to accomplish this task. As a data analyst you will do a lot of drawing and analyzing data. ► For more info on databases, SQL, and other jargon check out our Video Series on Data Jargon ( https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_9qmWdi19yDhnzqVCAhA4ALqDoqjeUOr ) 3 ) Know the Tools of the Trade Once you query data from the database onto your workspace you will begin to utilize data analytics tools to process, scrub, and analyze data (data Jargon explained on our Video series ^^^). You will be able to perform these tasks by using tools like Hadoop, Open Refine, Tableau, Apache Spark, etc... As you process the data you will begin to see connections between the data sets. You will see some of the following errors and you will want to remove these in order to ensure that your data analysis is accurate: - Duplicated data - Improperly formatted data - Incomplete data - Inaccurate data - This data will corrupt your findings and could possibly lose you client or employer millions of dollars. Make sure you know how to use those data analytics tools WELL! 4 ) Communicate and Present Insights Data Analyst will also be called upon to clearly and consciously present your research to clients, managers, or executives. Ok, now I know you are curious if you are capable of learning all of these crucial skills. Yes, you can, but there is a clause. You have to learn from the best. The guys over at Edureka.co are the leading professionals in the big data training industry. Based out of India, home to over 101,000 individuals in the data science industry (at the time of this writing). They are eager to make a way for themselves in the new digital economy. They are on the cutting edge of data analytics and eager to teach it to anyone worldwide. Testimonies of increased salaries, new employment, and 597,089 (updated) satisfied learners make edureka the best choice to learn the skills you need in the data industry. Question is will you actually do it. Imagine deregulating yourself for the data industry. Right now, it is a black hole, you don't know what's inside, but it is screaming opportunity from the darkness. TURN ON THE LIGHT and break into the data industry. A future proof opportunity for the next decade and beyond. ► Edureka Big Data Masters Program ( http://bit.ly/2yCbsac ) affiliate link^ ------- SOCIAL Twitter ► @jobsinthefuture Facebook ►/jobsinthefuture Instagram ►@Jobsinthefuture WHERE I LEARN: (affiliate links) Lynda.com ► http://bit.ly/2rQB2u4 edX.org ► http://fxo.co/4y00 MY FAVORITE GEAR: (affiliate links) Camera ► http://amzn.to/2BWvE9o CamStand ► http://amzn.to/2BWsv9M Computer ► http://amzn.to/2zPeLvs Mouse ► http://amzn.to/2C0T9hq TubeBuddy ► https://www.tubebuddy.com/bengkaiser ► Download the Ultimate Guide Now! (To register : http://freshersworld.com?src=Youtube ) – This video is all about “Careers and Training courses for Big Data There are a handful of working definitions for big data, but to me it is most simply put as data sets so large and complex that it becomes difficult or impossible to process them using traditional database management applications. Granted, the term may apply differently to different organizations. For a smaller company, facing hundreds of gigabytes of data for the first time may trigger a need to explore new tools. Other companies that generate tons of transactional data, like UPS, wouldn't flinch with their existing toolsets until they hit tens or hundreds of terabytes. For freshers who wants to start learning big data here are a few tips: 1. Begin with the basics: If you are looking at building a career in big data, you can start with developing the core aptitudes such as curiosity, agility, statistical fluency, research, scientific rigor and skeptical nature. You have to decide which facet of data investigation (data wrangling, management, exploratory analysis, prediction) are you looking at acquiring. The first step to learning big data is to develop basic level of familiarity with programming languages. 2. Experience in programming languages: Begin with developing basic data literacy and an analytic mindset by building knowledge of programming languages such as Java, C++, Pig Latin and HiveQL. Figure out where you want to apply your data analytics skills to describe, predict, and inform business decisions in the specific areas of marketing, human resources, finance, and operations. 3. Expertise in Hadoop: Developing knowledge about Hadoop Map-Reduce and Java is essential if you’re looking to be a high-performance data software engineer. 4. What are you looking for? If you are looking for a career switch to big data, begin with developing the skill sets required to work with Hadoop. A well-rounded understanding of Hadoop requires experience in large-scale distributed systems and knowledge of programming languages. 5. Data Analytics Skills: If you want to learn the fundamentals and want to get an indepth understanding of every aspect of Big Data, the resource material provided by Apache’s library is very useful. The Hadoop programme offered by Apache is an open-source software for reliable, scalable, distributed computing. Some of the other programmes offered are HBase Hive, Mahout, Pig ZooKeeper. 6. Online Courses: The big data universe is still very young, to get a well rounded expertise in big data it is important to learn and hone skills related to the subject. Decide on the course based on the skill set you're looking to get. Just by dedicating some time and energy, you can tackle learning big data with these free online classes. Applications of Big Data Big data includes problems that involve such large data sets and solutions that require a complex connecting the dots. You can see such things everywhere. 1. Quora and Facebook use Big data tools to understand more about you and provide you with a feed that you in theory should find it interesting. The fact that the feed is not interesting should show how hard the problem is. 2. Credit card companies analyze millions of transactions to find patterns of fraud. 3. There are similar problems in defense, retail, genomics, pharma, healthcare that requires a solution. The companies offering jobs on Big Data are : Qualcomm India Pvt Ltd, Accenture, Dev Solutions So let us summarize as Big Data is a group of problems and technologies related to the availability of extremely large volumes of data that businesses want to connect and understand. The reason why the sector is hot now is that the data and tools have reached a critical mass. This occurred in parallel with years of education effort that has convinced organizations that they must do something with their data treasure. Tetiana Ivanova - How to become a Data Scientist in 6 months a hacker’s approach to career planning

56:25
PyData London 2016 This talk outlines my journey from complete novice to machine learning practitioner. It started in November 2015 when I left my job as a project manager, and by April 2016 I was hired as a Data Scientist by a startup developing bleeding edge deep learning algorithms for medical imagery processing. SHORT INTRO Who I am, my background and short summary of my story. Here I will list the steps I personally took to achieve the goal I had. HOW DID I DO IT? Why I chose a “hacky” way to enter this career path. First mover advantage, why getting a degree doesn’t always improve your career prospects. Possibly a rant on the signalling function of formal education and how that is rarely aligned with a relevant practical skill set. Some stats to back it up (best career success predictors). Examples of hacking bureaucracies/social hierarchies from my experience and elsewhere. List of things not to do and common cognitive pitfalls. Networking for nerds - how to do it right. Time management for chronic procrastinators - how to plan a self-guided project. Some notes on psychology of time discounting and need for external reinforcement, with autobiographical examples. CONCLUSION You don’t need a PhD or even a masters to do machine learning. On taking calculated risks and especially calculated exits from one’s comfort zone. Some notes on soul searching and how to choose a career that is also a passion. Reading list. Support Vector Machine in R | SVM Algorithm Example | Data Science With R Tutorial | Simplilearn

21:03
This Support Vector Machine in R tutorial video will help you understand what is Machine Learning, what is classification, what is Support Vector Machine (SVM), what is SVM kernel and you will also see a use case in which we will classify horses and mules from a given data set using SVM algorithm. SVM is a method of classification in which you plot raw data as points in an n-dimensional space (where n is the number of features you have). The value of each feature is then tied to a particular coordinate, making it easy to classify the data. Lines called classifiers can be used to split the data and plot them on a graph. SVM is a classification algorithm used to assign data to various classes. They involve detecting hyperplanes which segregate data into classes. SVMs are very versatile and are also capable of performing linear or nonlinear classification, regression, and outlier detection. Now, let us get started and understand Support Vector Machine in detail. Below topics are explained in this "Support Vector Machine in R" video: 1. What is machine learning? 2. Subscribe to see more. How to Be a Data Scientist: Data Science Skill Development : In general terms, Data Science is the extraction of knowledge from large volumes of data that aren't structured, which is a continuation of the field data mining and predictive analytics, also known as knowledge discovery and data mining (KDD). Technology industry is a great career option, no matter how you look at it: Interesting work, high salaries and lots of opportunity. The data used by a Data Scientist can be both structured (metrics or raw numbers) and unstructured (e-mails, images, videos, or social data). The emerging Data Scientist needs to develop business domain knowledge. Frequently, candidates with stellar academic records fail on the job because they fail to apply their knowledge in real-world situations. Candidates must demonstrate quick aptitude for Data Science tools like R, Python, Hadoop, or SAS. Successful Data Scientists are usually convincing story tellers. They ought to be able to communicate the “story” hidden behind their findings. Visualization eases understanding. As Data Scientists often have to create algorithms to extract insights from such complex data, these “data magicians” are expected to be equipped with a variety of skills and experience levels. A Data scientist requires comprehensive mastery of a number of fields, such as software development, data munging, databases, statistics, machine learning and data visualization. Your job might consist of tasks like pulling data out of MySQL databases, becoming a master at Excel pivot tables, and producing basic data visualizations (e.g., line and bar charts). Data Scientists enjoy a median salary of $113,000. You may on occasion analyze the results of an A/B test or take the lead on your company’s Google Analytics account. A company like this is a great place for an aspiring data scientist to learn the ropes. Once you have a handle on your day-to-day responsibilities, a company like this can be a great environment to try new things and expand your skillset. A data scientist with a software engineering background might excel at a company, where it’s more important that a data scientist make meaningful data-like contributions to the production code and provide basic insights and analyses. Data Skills to Get You Hired : 1. Basic Tools 2. Basic Statistics 3. Machine Learning 4. Multivariable Calculus and Linear Algebra 5. Data Munging 6. Data Visualization & Communication 7. Software Engineering 8. Thinking Like A Data Scientist 9. Guide to Python and R, and which one is best Data scientists around the world are presented with exciting problems to solve. Within the complex questions they have to ask, a growing mountain of data rests a set of insights that can change entire industries. In order to get there, data scientists often rely on programming languages and tools. Python : Python is a versatile programming language that can do everything from data mining to plotting graphs. Its design philosophy is based on the importance of readability and simplicity. From the The Zen of Python: Beautiful is better than ugly. Explicit is better than implicit. Simple is better than complex. Complex is better than complicated. Flat is better than nested. Sparse is better than dense. Readability counts. As you can imagine, algorithms in Python are designed to be easy to read and write. Blocks of Python code are separated by indentations. Within each block, you’ll discover a syntax that wouldn’t be out of place in a technical handbook. Collect raw data Python supports all kinds of different data formats. You can play with comma-separated value documents (known as CSVs) or you can play with JSON sourced from the web. You can import SQL tables directly into your code. You can also create datasets. The Python requests library is a beautiful piece of work that allows you to take data from different websites with a line of code. It simplifies HTTP requests into a line of code. You’ll be able to take data from Wikipedia tables, and once you’ve organized the data you get with beautifulsoup, you’ll be able to analyze them in-depth. You can get any kind of data with Python.
