Where to Find GOLD in Maine, NH, Quebec | SECRET Prospecting Panning Locations

04:56
ATTENDEZ-VOUS: Prospecting for gold in Quebec (panning, sluicing, dredging, etc.) is illegal without a permit and permission from landowners. Check this site for info: http://gpex.ca/index.php Along with glacial gold, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and eastern townships of Quebec feature Taconic event geology, which is the hallmark for motherlode gold formations. It's no coincidence that this geology corresponds to where gold has been found. In the economic downturn, many career professionals seem to be picking up a gold pan, to supplement income and support families. This video provides the information you need to hit the best gold areas. Panning, crevicing, cracking rock, or even small hand dredge are all ways to retrieve placer and small nugget gold out of New England streams and rivers. I prefer crevicing as that's how I've found flakes! Digging two or more feet of gravel overburden has proven to be a waste of time, for me anyway. The best success I've had is using a long screwdriver and garden spade to crevice out the muck and clay wedged in cracks running perpendicular to the river or stream flow. Check it out people and post a comment if you have success! How to find gold video.

I start out prospecting for placer jade but get thwarted by angry flying red ant hoards. I discover some aventurine quartz (I think) along the way and I go on the hunt for an old black jade mine I found on Google Earth. Jade prospecting in Wyoming. I filmed in 60fps to reduce camera jumpiness but I can't figure out how to get it to render correctly yet, so I apologize in advance for the jitter and my crappy filming, working on it.

Mine Cristal, mining quartz crystals

08:02
www.minecristal.ca Stay informed about our new videos: subscribe to our YouTube channel "Mine Cristal". This mine is located in Bonsecours, Quebec, Canada. Photos and video clips shown here date from 1989 - 2012. The open-pit mine produces splendid quartz crystals with exceptional clarity. The largest single crystals measure 60 cm (24 inches) in length. Since mining began in 1989, 32 types, or morphologies of quartz crystals have been catalogued. Geological research into the origins of these crystals has revealed that they formed at this location some 300 million years ago under extreme conditions of heat and pressure. We harvest crystals in the mine only as needed, to supply our store with a sufficient quantity of quartz crystals. Exceptionally (for a mine), we harvest all the crystals by hand and without the use of dynamite. It is a privilege for us to participate in the discovery and extraction of these true gems of nature. The extraction process is done in a manner which respects both the environment and the crystals: we endeavor to keep the crystals whole and in a pristine state. In the museum and the store, our crystals are presented in an untouched, natural state. Amazingly, each crystal is an intricate work of art made by Nature; no two are alike and this makes them even more fascinating! Mine Cristal is considered by experts to be a “geological gem,” one of Canada’s great natural sites, due to it’s unique and abundant mineralogical deposits.

The Most Depressing City On Earth

03:56
Just gonna do a little damage control here and add that the video is purely opinion. I did very little intense research, and depression is a mental illness not a characteristic of a city. I based my argument on some facts, but I'm sure you can argue that war torn cities like Damascus could be more 'depressing'. Sorry if the video came off as if I was spouting the gospel. If you think you have found a more depressing city, comment. Just do not comment Detroit. Please. Full Script: It was my goal when making this video to decide which city is the most depressing (which in this situation is a synonym for depressing). This is obviously just an opinion, but I did put some research into this and I think that my answer is very reasonable. Before we get into this, let’s take a look at the rules. I decided that a city cannot have fewer than 50,000 people I know that that isnt the official definition, but This takes a lot of remote settlements in places like Greenland out of the mix. I decided to look at what factors cause unhappiness. I found this list, and while some factors have no relation to geography, two do: Inability to sleep or excessive sleeping, and Social isolation. In order for a city to make it hard to sleep, it has to be very far north, or very far south. Cities inside the arctic circle experience the polar night, where the sun simply does not come up for days at a time. This has been known to cause insomnia. In order for a city to cause social isolation, it needs to have a hostile environment. Luckily, most cities in the Arctic Circle check that box. It also has to be isolated from other cities, and inaccessible. There are many scandinavian cities that have hostile environments, but these cities, such as Tromso (traum-suh) are tourist destinations and generally good places to live. They have high standards of living. Next, we have to turn to Russia. Two cities caught my eye immediately: the coal mining town of Vorkuta and remote port Murmansk. However, coal mining has become unprofitable in vorcuteuh, so people are moving out at alarming rates. Plus, just look at this picture and tell me that does not look jolly. And being a port city, Murmansk naturally has contact with new ideas and people. However, there is one city that I have left out. (Papers please theme) Norilsk. The Nickel mining city of 170 something thousand people is so hostile it seems like something out of 1984. No roads lead to Norilsk, and it is one of three large cities in the continuous permafrost zone that means that the land is unfarmable. There is one freight railway that leads to the city, but the only way out is an airport or a port 40 miles away that freezes over in the winter. Norilsk enters continuous darkness for 45 days each year, and when people leave the city, they say that they are going to “the mainland”. the polar night syndrome is common in residents, you can probably figure out why. It is also one of the most polluted cities on earth. Here’s a quick list of facts about norilsk’s pollution: 1 percent of global emissions of sulfur dioxide comes from Norilsk nickel mines . It is so polluted that some people mine the soil for soot because it contains precious minerals. In September 2016, the nearby river turned red. The life expectancy of a worker in Norilsk is 10 years lower. A study done by Boris Revich showed that blood illnesses were 44% higher, nervous system illnesses 38% higher, and bone and muscle system illnesses 28% higher among children in Norilsk WHEN COMPARED TO OTHER CHILDREN IN SIBERA. In any other city, people might protest these terrible, polluted conditions. But in Norilsk, the income for nearly everybody comes from one company: Norilsk Nickel. Any protestors would be fired, because even if you do not work in the mines, Norilsk Nickel also owns nearly all businesses in town. And the Russian Government has no plans to step in, because this company is a cash cow. Norilsk Nickel is 2% of the Russian GDP. In comparison, the entire city of San Francisco is 2% of the US GDP. The city has a depressing past as well: it was built by 500,000 gulag prisoners working under starving conditions throughout the month long days and nights. Of which eighteen thousand died. The most obvious relic of this era can be found all over the city: the stalinist, utilitarian architecture of nearly every building in the city. But hey, they painted the city bright colors so it can’t be that bad right?

Coal-location-date relationships text mined from Early Canada Online (Canadiana.ca)

01:24
This video displays some early data from the Trading Consequences project (@digtrade). We use the Edinburgh Geoparser to added lat/long data for all of the locations found in the corpus. We then extract the relationship between a lexicon of commodities, in this case coal, and geogrounded location (i.e. when we find coal and a place name in the same sentence). Currently we use the publication date, but hope to text mine more precise dates in the near future. Finally, we use ArcGIS's new time function to create a video showing the geography of coal mentions changing over time in the corpus. We've also added a tensity "heat map" showing the regions of the world where coal is mentioned most often over the whole of the long-nineteenth century.

There's still Gold at the Abandoned Eldorado Gold Mine, Ontario

07:46
There's still gold at the abandoned Eldorado Gold mine in Ontario. History books state the highly improbable theory that all the gold at the now abandoned Eldorado Gold Mine in Ontario was concentrated in a single fissure, but in reality the area was leaking gold out in the pockets of the many workers. According to Kim Woodside, there were many mines that could have been productive.

10 Unusual Abandoned Places in Canada

07:26
From abandoned islands, to obscure hidden places, these are 10 UNUSUAL Abandoned Places in Canada Subscribe to Talltanic http://goo.gl/wgfvrr 10. Cole Island Location - British Columbia 9.Bankhead Location - Alberta 8.The Guild Inn Location - Ontario Locally known as The Guild, this abandoned place was once an impressive hotel in Scarborough Toronto. Since 1914, the property has switched owners many times. It was even used as a Foreign Mission House for the Roman Catholic Church. What's more impressive than the buildings, is the 90 acres around them. The families that owned the property combined many different architectural styles to create gardens that could rival any property in Europe. For a long time everything on the property was abandoned, nowadays, the gardens serve as a great spot for intimate weddings, and there have been major talks about reviving the hotel too. 7.Stanley Park Zoo Location - British Columbia 6.Val Jalbert Location - Quebec. My French is not great; so lets just get it out of the way; Val Jalbert is located in Quebec and it is listed as a ghost town. Its easy to see why with photos like this one. The village sprung to existence because of the successful pulp mill in the area. What is a pulp mill you ask? Its an integral part for the creation of PAPER AND STUFF! You take some wood chips add some magic and then you have FIBERBOARD ! The village was founded in 1901 and by 1929 all the homes in the area were boarded up and everyone was ordered to leave…. In the 1960s the location was transformed into a public park. YAY ! Now everyone can enjoy the nature and check out the homes of the workers that used to work in the mill. 5.Celanese Power House Location - Alberta 4.Grain Elevators Location - Alberta This is not just one site, the countryside of Alberta seems to be littered with dilapidated grain elevators. Like this one in Herronton, a very small town near Calgary. Or this one in Brant. Grain elevators commonly refer to buildings that store grain, but they can also refer to what we see in these pictures, towers containing bucket elevators that load up containers with grain. Locals have tried to preserve as much as they can, and have even started the Alberta Grain Elevator Society ! 3.Camp 30 Location - Ontario 2.Partridge Island Location - New Brunswick This island has quite a long history, located within the city of Saint John, the island was first used as a quarantine station in 1785. It also had a lighthouse and military post on it. During the Irish Potato Famine it is estimated that around 30,000 people passed through the island for processing, with around 1200 actually dying there. And by 1890, 78,000 immigrants passed through the island a year. The most famous part of the island is the Celtic cross dedicated to those who passed on the island. There was a museum near the cross that operated until 1995. Since then, the island has become almost a rite of passage for teenagers in the area. With so much to explore, its easy to see how you can be attracted to the haunting past of the land. 1.Queen of Sidney Location - British Columbia

Inside the mine, we found more artifacts used by the miners, and we demonstrate in the video how those artifacts were used by the miners long ago.

People have noticed a large amount of cancer in the area especially in a school near the fort in 2002. High doses or radioactive contamination appeared to be the only plausible explanation and a study in 2006 confirmed the radioactivity. 5. McClure Radioactive Site A company looking to build some houses came across a startling discovery when surveying new land in Ontario Canada. The McClure site was contaminated with high amounts of radium from industrial use and a large amount of the soil as contaminated. They found out later that the plant in the area was put radioactive scrap metal in the ground for experimental purposes. The researchers had wanted to see if the radioactivity would somehow accelerate plant growth. The experiments were obviously unsuccessful but the area remains contaminated to this day. Some people have some crazy theories! 4. McGuire Air Force Base During the Cold War, America was quite eager to have the best nuclear arms of any country in the world. The McGuire Air Force Base was seriously contaminated from weapons grade plutonium in 1960. Located just south of Trenton, this was home to Launch Shelter 204 that stored nuclear, intercontinental ballistic missiles. An unexpected explosion happened in a helium that caused a fire in the nuclear tipped BOMARC missile. The fire burned for about 15 minutes and was extinguished with water. This resulted in radioactive material and water to flow throughout the air force base. Some pieces of debris were found a half mile from the explosion. It could have been much worse considering how close it is to populated areas. The contaminated area stretches an estimated 7 acres and it’s closed off with a barbed wire fence. So don’t even think about coming here! 3. Mailuu-Suu This place is one of the most polluted and radioactive sites in the world. Located in Kyrgyzstan, it’s radiation is derived from the large amount of Uranium ore deposits. Mining operations from 1946 to 1968 left this place severely damaged. They managed to mine nearly 10,000 tons of uranium ore for the Soviet nuclear program. A landslide that took place in 1958 released 6000 cubic meters of material from this mine, leaving radioactive particles all over the place. There’s more than 20000 times the amount of normal radiation at this location. When the mining operations ended, it left many people without jobs. It’s believed that many settlers of this region, put themselves in danger and attempt to sell of the metal to scrap metal dealers. 2.Chernobyl Exclusion Zone Chernobyl and Pripyat were both quickly evacuated after a horrific meltdown took place at the nuclear power plant Reactor number 4 on April 26, 1986. People fled this area so quickly that they left many of their belongings behind. As a result of the meltdown, no one has been allowed to live here due to the high amounts of radiation set off from the explosion. The toxic cloud of particles affected a large part of eastern europe and some material was even found as far away as Switzerland. This photo here depicts what's known as the elephant foot is the reminisce of the black lava firefighters found that oozed directed from the core of the power plant. This is basically molten radioactive lava and certainly not something you want to get close. Stand next to this thing for 300 hundred seconds and you’ll only have two days to live. Although nature has been able to flourish here, mankind certainly won’t be making their way back to this place any time soon. 1.Fukushima Power Plant ` A tsunami that struck the coast of Japan in 2011 after an earth and it’s the worst nuclear power plant disaster since Chernobyl by a longshot. The reactors automatically shut down and the tsunami destroyed the emergency cooling generators causing it to overheat. This lead to not one, not two, but three nuclear meltdowns and the releasing of radioactive material all over the area. It was given the Level 7 classification by the International Nuclear Event Scale. This has lead many people seriously concerned for their health in this area and the eventual number of cancer victims could be through the roof! Radiation hotspots like this one in kashiwa are completely closed from the public. Radioactivity is now found much more often through the entire Pacific ocean and has been causing mutations in plants and animals in many parts of the world.

Check out these 10 countries with the largest gold reserves in the world! India According to the World Gold Council, the Bank of India currently holds 557.7 tons of gold. It is one of the largest stores of gold in the world! This makes up 9.9 % of the country’s total foreign reserve. Foreign exchange reserves is money or other assets held by a nation’s central bank so they can back the national currency. India, home to 1.25 billion people, is the number one largest consumer of the precious metal. Furthermore, India is one of the most reliable drivers of global demand. For example, India’s festival and wedding season, which runs from October to December, has historically been a major market for gold. And probably, one of the most interesting facts about India and gold is that India rarely invests much in gold. This is because as a country, India operates under the belief that buying gold leads to a deficit. And their belief must be proving right as things also seem to be improving for India. For instance, if you look at the last few years, India has increased its gold reserves from 557.74 to 557.77. While this might not seem like a lot, India is also at its highest point in history! In addition to what the country holds, Indian households which are considered the world’s largest hoarders of gold, hold a record 23,000-24,000 tons, which is worth about $800 billion. 9.) Netherlands In the past few years, the Netherlands has held 52% of its foreign reserve in gold. The Netherlands has a reported 612.45 tons. In 2016 it was reported that the bank was looking for a place to store all its gold because they were going to renovate the vaults and needed to moving it. The Dutch central bank is planning to move the country’s gold reserves from the center of Amsterdam to a new complex called the Cash Center. Like most countries, Dutch gold is also held in banks around the world to reduce risk. Security measures to guard the gold 24/7 have become a problem in Amsterdam. 189,000 kilos of gold will be moved at the beginning of 2022. Maybe this is one reason that over the last decade and a half, the Netherlands was selling off tons of gold in order to reduce its reserve. However, there weren’t that many buyers out there and they sold less than the country wanted. More recently the country has had less ambition to sell gold. Currently, the country holds the same amount of tons, 612.45 that they have over the last few years. However, the country has increased its percentage of foreign reserves to 61.2 %. 8.) Japan Japan is another country which had been increasing its gold reserves since the 1960’s. Their official gold holdings were reported at 765.2 tons. About 2.4% of Japan’s gold today is in foreign reserve. Historically, Japan has always held a bit more gold than other countries. This was true until 2011, when they began to sell some of their reserve in order to pump money into the economy after the tsunami and the following Fukushima nuclear disaster. But even with selling, Japan’s central bank has been one of the most aggressive practitioners of quantitative easing. For example, in January of 2016, it lowered interest rates below zero, which has helped fuel demand in gold around the world. 7.) Switzerland Prior to 1997, Switzerland was steadily building its gold reserves. In 1997, the decision was made to sell some of those reserves to bolster the Swiss currency and diversify the foreign reserves. The percent of foreign reserves in Switzerland is currently 6.7 %. Switzerland actually has the world’s largest reserves of gold per capita and currently has reported 1,040 tons. Over time, many citizens in the country started to feel like the bank was getting rid of too much gold. They then banded together with the “Save the Swiss” movement. However, once everyone was able to vote in 2014, the vote came to a no, and gold continued to be sold. During World War II, Switzerland became the center of the gold trade in Europe, making transactions with both the Allies and Axis powers. Today, much of its gold trading is done with Hong Kong and China. Around last year, the Swiss National Bank made a $5.9 billion profit, reportedly from its gold holdings. Creepy Sounds Captured in an Abandoned Mine While Reviewing the ThruNite TN12 Flashlight

14:51
Disturbing, strange sounds. That's exactly what I caught on video while filming and documenting the abandoned Waldeck Mine using the ThruNite TN12 flashlight. The Waldeck Mine is an abandoned gold mine located deep in a forested canyon in the high country. I went there on a stormy night in order to document the mine while reviewing and demonstrating ThruNite's excellent TN12 handheld flashlight. The abandoned mine itself is over 150 years old and still has a lot of awesome yet dangerous timbering in its furthest reaches. There are upper levels in the Waldeck Mine, but I only explored and documented the main haulage tunnel. As mentioned in the video, the ThruNite TN12 flashlight I used exclusively for this demo and review has five light levels. Here are the lumens each light level puts out: FIREFLY MODE: 0.4 lumens LOW MODE: 18 lumens MEDIUM MODE: 175 lumens HIGH MODE: 435 lumens TURBO MODE: 1100 lumens The flashlight runs off of a 3400 mAh 18650 battery. ****SPECIAL COUPON CODE**** If you place an order on ThruNite's direct website only (http://www.thrunite.com/thrunite-tn12-2016-xp-l-v6-max-1100-lumen-flashlight/) between now and December 23rd, 2016, use this coupon code at checkout to receive 20% off your order. When Stornoway’s Renard diamond mine began production in July 2016, it made history — not only as the first diamond mine in Quebec, Canada, but also because of the unique way the project was financed. Stornoway’s financing package is made up of a series of transactions including equity, a diamond stream, project debt facilities, and the equipment financing facility provided by Cat Financial. Cat dealer Hewitt Equipment Ltd. has worked with the mine from the beginning to provide end-to-end services, solutions and support.
