What Causes Accidents - Safety Training Video - Preventing Accidents & Injuries Never miss a new safety video! Subscribe: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=safetymemos It is hard to find an accident that could not have been prevented. Although it is often difficult to foresee every unsafe condition or potential hazard - training, constant vigilance and hazard awareness can prevent the vast majority of incidents and fatalities. Carelessness, distractions, ignorance and unnecessary risk-taking will lead to accidents and injuries. This safety training video outlines the two causes of most accidents and the human behaviors that make accidents happen. Understanding these causes and behaviors can help us reduce both the frequency and severity of accidents. Safety Video | Nothing is Routine

02:31
The "Nothing is Routine" safety video was created for the Midland Michigan Site to remind employees that we often forget that there are dangers even in our most routine tasks. The idea behind this video was to show three different activities that employees complete daily such as walking, office work, and working a product line. During these activities users can lose focus on safety and injury can and will occur. It was our goal to put the audience into these three situations and then show them the possible outcome if they are distracted and become complacent. This video is the property of the Dow Chemical Company and should not be used for any training purposes. Videographer: Tom Sheahan

Health & Safety - Funny

02:22
Something a little different. Here's an animated Health & Safety video. It's funny. But with a serious point. The humour is quite dark. The film uses a combination of humour and 'shock' tactics to get the message across and has been very well received. Produced, Written & Directed by Duncan Hart I'm a UK based stand-up comic, writer and film maker. Videos of my stand-up are available on my channel.

Eye Safety - Safety Eyewear - Eye Injury Prevention

03:31
Eye Safety - Safety Eyewear - Eye Injury Prevention You can bite into an apple with false teeth. You can walk with a prosthetic leg. But you can't see with a glass eye! Only you can prevent an eye injury by using the appropriate safety eyewear! This short video stresses the importance of knowing the hazards at home and the workplace regarding your eyes. In this video we review a few actual incidents where people lost part or all of their vision, along with one whose vision was saved by safety eyewear. In the United States, minimum standards for safety eyewear, or safety glasses, has been established by the American National Standards Institute, or as it is more commonly known - ANSI. Even if you wear prescription glasses, they can be made to ANSI Standards. Safety eyewear is inexpensive, but invaluable! Get it and use it, at home and at work. Get some for your kids, too. Protect Your Hands - Four Basics - Safety Training Video - Avoid Hand Injuries

02:08
Protect Your Hands - Four Basics - Safety Training Video - Avoid Hand Injuries Never miss a new free safety video! Subscribe: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=safetymemos Your hands do what you tell them to do, so put your brain gear before using your hands. This short safety training video outlines four basic hand safety principles. Share it with your co-workers, family and friends. Healthy hands make a big difference in the quality of your life. Slow down and check out the hazards of each task. Even if you do the same job over and over, stay focused and follow these four basic principles. Your hands can get cuts, burns, abrasions, bruises and other injuries. Wear proper gloves for each job. Sharp-edged materials can cause cuts. Some materials can cause scrapes and torn skin. Hot surfaces can cause burns. Splinters come from working with metal and wood. Get the right glove for the job and inspect your gloves before each use. Gloves that are falling apart or that have tears, rips or other damage do not give good protection. Never alter or remove machine guards. Make sure machines are properly locked out before removing a guard for maintenance or repair. Be aware of common everyday hazards during normal everyday use. Remember to use your brain before using your hands! Slips, Trips & Falls - The Fatal Half Inch - Safety Training Video

04:27
Slips, Trips & Falls - The Fatal Half Inch - Safety Training Video - Trip & Fall Prevention Preventing slips, trips and falls starts with understanding what causes them, and this video explains the most common, and most surprising, cause of trips and falls, something that almost everyone has in common, but fail to realize. We call it The Fatal Half Inch. Slips, trips and falls constitute the majority of general industry accidents and result in back injuries, strains and sprains, contusions, and fractures. Trips & Falls are the second leading cause of death in the home, especially in those over age 55. In the workplace, slips, trips and falls account for the majority of accidents and injuries, and falls account for 15 percent of all accidental deaths and are second only to motor vehicle crashes as a cause of fatalities. We developed this safety training video to make people aware of the hazard that causes most trips and falls, one that we carry with us and use all the time, but fail to completely understand. Remember, 99% of accidents are the result of human behaviors. But trips and falls are preventable - it starts with education about a simple aspect of our own physical movement. Send the link to this short video to employees, students, family members and business owners to educate them on the most common and primary cause of all trips and falls. Help reduce the number of accidents and injuries in your workplace, and in your family. The life you save could be a loved one's, or even your own. SilverCrest Mines: Safety, Orientation and the Environment

09:54
Between 2008 and 2010, Resource Intelligence created a suite of videos for SilverCrest Mines to assist in communication not only with shareholders, but also with staff and visitors to the mine site. The SilverCrest Mines Orientation Video: Safety and the Environment became more than the sum of its parts. The company wanted to share its corporate philosophy with visitors, staff and stakeholders from the get-go. We created a logo to accompany these efforts and to reflect Responsibility, Safety and the environment. This is displayed on site as posters and handed out in the form of stickers in an effort to encourage all visitors to the site to adhere to the company's safety and environmental policies.

Workplace Safety Video - Safety Essentials | Safetycare Workplace Safetyfree preview

02:07
Workplace Safety Video: Accidents at work can have far-reaching, serious consequences for individuals and organizations. They can cause great distress and suffering to individuals and families, as well as financial hardship. For organizations, there are the obvious costs like disruption and absenteeism, and a wide range of hidden costs, such as lost productivity, retraining, and the effect on morale. Clearly, ensuring workplace safety is in everybody’s best interests. Although safety requirements vary from workplace to workplace, there is a core of safety knowledge that everyone should know: The Safety Essentials. These Safety Essentials are: • An understanding of how you can be hurt or become ill as a result of workplace activities. • An understanding of what is expected of you from the organization’s perspective. • Correct manual handling techniques, and • Knowing what to do in an emergency situation. Being aware of these safety essentials and understanding how they relate to you and your work is fundamental to ensuring your safety and that of your workmates. The objectives of this program are to bring about: • Increased awareness of the importance of workplace safety. • Increased awareness of the safety essentials that underpin workplace safety. • Awareness of the potential consequences of inferior workplace safety. • An understanding of how hazards in the workplace can harm an individual. • An understanding of the expectations of an organization upon an individual regarding workplace safety. • An understanding of proper manual handling technique. • An understanding of the importance of knowing what to do in an emergency. This increased knowledge will play a major role in reducing the incidence of workplace accidents.

A Safe Day circa 1936 Chevrolet Division, General Motors; Workplace Safety Training Film

Public domain film from the Prelinger Archives, slightly cropped to remove uneven edges, with the aspect ratio corrected, and mild video noise reduction applied. The soundtrack was also processed with volume normalization, noise reduction, clipping reduction, and/or equalization (the resulting sound, though not perfect, is far less noisy than the original). http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occupational_safety_and_health ...Physical hazards are a common source of injuries in many industries. They are perhaps unavoidable in certain industries, such as construction and mining, but over time people have developed safety methods and procedures to manage the risks of physical danger in the workplace. Employment of children may pose special problems. Falls are a common cause of occupational injuries and fatalities, especially in construction, extraction, transportation, healthcare, and building cleaning and maintenance. An engineering workshop specialising in the fabrication and welding of components has to follow the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at work regulations 1992. It is an employers duty to provide ‘all equipment (including clothing affording protection against the weather) which is intended to be worn or held by a person at work which protects him against one or more risks to his health and safety’. In a fabrication and welding workshop an employer would be required to provide face and eye protection, safety footwear, overalls and other necessary PPE. Machines are commonplace in many industries, including manufacturing, mining, construction and agriculture, and can be dangerous to workers. Many machines involve moving parts, sharp edges, hot surfaces and other hazards with the potential to crush, burn, cut, shear, stab or otherwise strike or wound workers if used unsafely. Various safety measures exist to minimize these hazards, including lockout-tagout procedures for machine maintenance and roll over protection systems for vehicles. According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, machine-related injuries were responsible for 64,170 cases that required days away from work in 2008. More than a quarter of these cases required more than 31 days spent away from work. That same year, machines were the primary or secondary source of over 600 work-related fatalities. Machines are also often involved indirectly in worker deaths and injuries, such as in cases in which a worker slips and falls, possibly upon a sharp or pointed object. The transportation sector bears many risks for the health of commercial drivers, too, for example from vibration, long periods of sitting, work stress and exhaustion. These problems occur in Europe but in other parts of the world the situation is even worse... Confined spaces also present a work hazard. The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health defines "confined space" as having limited openings for entry and exit and unfavorable natural ventilation, and which is not intended for continuous employee occupancy. Spaces of this kind can include storage tanks, ship compartments, sewers, and pipelines. Confined spaces can pose a hazard not just to workers, but also to people who try to rescue them. Noise also presents a fairly common workplace hazard: occupational hearing loss is the most common work-related injury in the United States, with 22 million workers exposed to hazardous noise levels at work and an estimated $242 million spent annually on worker's compensation for hearing loss disability. Noise is not the only source of occupational hearing loss; exposure to chemicals such as aromatic solvents and metals including lead, arsenic, and mercury can also cause hearing loss. Temperature extremes can also pose a danger to workers. Heat stress can cause heat stroke, exhaustion, cramps, and rashes. Heat can also fog up safety glasses or cause sweaty palms or dizziness, all of which increase the risk of other injuries. Workers near hot surfaces or steam also are at risk for burns. Dehydration may also result from overexposure to heat. Cold stress also poses a danger to many workers. Overexposure to cold conditions or extreme cold can lead to hypothermia, frostbite, trench foot, or chilblains...
