New compilation of swimming pools during an earthquake. Could you imagine if the fault-line ran under your pool, There was a snap of splitting tiles and you thrash for the ladder, suddenly swimming against the flow as around you the water is sucked into the gaping crack at the bottom, and you hear the scream-gurgle of your friend as he's sucked out of sight....

A water scene can dramatically change the look of an already fantastic model and make it look even better! In this easy to follow tutorial I’ll step you through modeling with water from a plain piece of foam board right up to an amazing looking river scene! This model river is made in HO scale however as with most of the tutorials I do the techniques can be applied to not only HO scale but N scale and lager scales as well. The technique I use can be applied for a slow flowing river or stream modeling a lake, modeling rapids and modeling a waterfall as well. I use EnviroTex Lite to model this diorama however most two part epoxies will work just as well and you can also use Woodland Scenics Realistic Water which is an acrylic that is easy to use and easy to clean. A lot of modelers will avoid adding a water scene to their model railroad layout or war gaming terrain because in the past a lot of others have had bad experiences using the various water products however… with some careful planning and proper preparation you should have no problems working with these products. The technique I use for this diorama can be applied in many different scenarios from modelling a dam to modelling white water rapids and they will all look absolutely amazing. When it comes to adding ripples be sure to only apply a thin layer of Mod Podge, if the mod podge layer is too thick it will become cloudy on humid days as it absorbs the moisture out of the air, the Woodland Scenics Water Effects also has the same problem when applied very thick. I hope you are enjoying the tutorials, I spend many hours (when I’m not working my day job) filming and editing these tutorials in order to upload them to YouTube. Here are some stats for this video: Total amount of footage filmed – 12 hours 20 minutes and 14 seconds Total file size of filmed footage – 104 gig Total time spent building the diorama – Over 40 hours Number of photos taken during final photo shoot – 94 (A lot less than usual because it started to rain) Time spent editing – 22 hours Approximate cost of diorama - $105.00 (The vehicle was the most expensive at $50 because I had to order it from Europe and pay a large postage fee) If you’d like to support this channel to help keep the videos coming feel free to check out my Patreon Page where I have a few different perks and rewards for those that support me: https://www.patreon.com/luketowan

In this back to basics guide I will describe and demonstrate how to make and use “wet water”. Don’t forget to check out http://www.bouldercreekrailroad.com/ where I post other tutorials ond information related to model railroading. Wet water is used to presoak your scenery prior to applying the glue, it allows the glue to penetrate the scenery providing a strong reliable bond. A good starting point is to mix a ratio of 1 part soap to 100 parts water, basically 1% and then test it on a small area, you may find you need slightly more or less soap depending on the type of soap you use. Whether your applying ground foam, dirt or ballast for your model railroad or terrain, you’ll most likely need to pre wet the area with wet water.

The Hundru Falls is created on the course of the Subarnarekha River, where it falls from a height of 98 metres (322 ft) creating one of the highest water falls in the state. The spectacular scene of water falling from such a great height has been described as a sight to behold. The different formations of rock due to the erosion by the constantly falling of water have added to the beauty of the place. The Hundru Falls at one of the edges of the Ranchi plateau is one of the several scarp falls in the region. During rainy season it takes a formidable form but in the dry season it turns into an exciting picnic spot. At the base of the Hundru Falls, there is a pool, which serves as a bathing place. The Hundru Falls is an example of a Knick point caused by rejuvenation. Knickpoint, also called a nick point or simply nick, represents breaks in slopes in the longitudinal profile of a river caused by rejuvenation. The break in channel gradient allows water to fall vertically giving rise to a waterfall.

Volcanoes around the world (Kilauea, Rainier, Mazama, Yellowstone, Long Valley) erupt magmas with differing silica contents - and therefore have constrasting eruptive styles. Eruptive styles range from effusive and quiet...to explosive and deadly. And there is a global pattern for the location for these volcanoes. Magma chemistry (silica content) is an important factor in determining the location and eruptive danger for volcanoes in the Cascades, the Andes, and other locations. Sheild volcanoes (45% silica), Stratovolcanoes (60% silica), and Supervolcanoes (75% silica) demonstrate contrasting volcanic shapes, locations, and eruptive styles. Tom Foster (http://HUGEfloods.com) and Nick Zentner (Central Washington University) have been hiking together in eastern Washington for years. ‘Volcanoes Around the World’ is part of a “2 Minute Geology” video series.
