You just showed how to transfer 1 photo. You need more experience! Show how to transfer photos when you have hundreds on your camera. Then you'll realize how crappy this transfer app is.

I'm disappointed in the WMU. It shrinks the files via wifi so a 5mb file becomes 1mb. I cant find a way to wirelessly transfer the full image sizes.

How to transfer video?
Can you transfer videos
Arne McPuckerButt (2 years ago)
Silly function. Why not just get a 90mB/sec 633x 8Gb-64Gb micro-SD card with SD-card adapter that fits both the Nikon camera and the phone and transfers faster?Compared to my Acer 1810TZ laptop, I find that my Samsung Note 4 has a better screen, can edit photos faster with the Pixlr app and it is easier to share. PC has more editing options but a good screen that you can trust, costs a fortune. Only downside with android is Nikon video. I cannot upload to Vimeo, Youtube, Facebook, nor use any video edit app, because they don't recognize the format .MOV, only .MP4. I spent 4 hours researching it last night and the only solution I found is to use a MOV to MP4 conversion app. I did not try it, because that would have reduced quality and taken forever! Nikon always has to do things differently than everyone else.

Does the 5300 have better color accuracy than say the iPhone 6, or the Galaxy S7?

Hello i got an s6 edge and an d5300 camera but i can't acces the menu to enable live view mode on the phone have you got that to work?
bandar 1975 (1 year ago)
guys the problem is because if once the live view is off by the application because the minimum power value for live view application is crossed first time after installation, it wont be turned on without resetting the app. so if u want to solve the problem u have to do as i say. 1. u reset the app using "clear data" in the application manager in android . 2. launch the app and agree the terms and conditions. 3. go to the settings before using the app and set the battery level minimum value to 10%. 4.then connect the cam and njoy. NB: try to dont cross minimum battery level while using app. if crossed do once again. hope it work for u.
Pam pero puro (2 years ago)
hahaha funny my Nikon don't have WiFi setting on it
Kristine Battad (2 years ago)
i have d7200. but i guess it will work the same.so to completely copy the video file in your device, follow everything he said up to playing the vid from the WMU. While playing the video theres 3-dot on the upper right side of the vid, tap it. select SHARE- then COPY/MOVE TO SD CARD. I chose copy unless u want to move the vid file completely. Then Go to your Gallery. Jaraaan! Video is now playing (NOT GREY ANYMORE). I just experimented it a few minutes now after watching this video. I knew theres a way! Hope it works for u :)
Kristine Battad (2 years ago)
+Hamda Amin of course you have to connect to your phone to nikon wmu first to open the files from your cam. thats what i do in my d7200
Kristine Battad (2 years ago)
+Hamda Amin. Play the vid and while playing you will see 3vertical dots, tap the 3 dots> choose share, you will have options to share it with facebook, email etc, but pick copy/paste to sd card. then the video file will be saved to your phone. thats what i do all the time.
Hamda Saeed (2 years ago)
And How can I copy the video file from the camera ?

Jonas Lindh (2 years ago)
I have the same problem have you found a solution for it?
Evan Andreas (3 years ago)
Why are the files being saved as a jepg file and not a jpeg file. It's not allowing me to upload to social media.
Evan Andreas (2 years ago)
+Jesse Tate that's correct. I contacted nikon twice and both reps tried to blame it on my phone. I returned it for a similar style canon and have had no issues uploading. Nikon is clearly behind the ball as far as uploading technology.
Jesse Tate (2 years ago)
I'm really frustrated with the same issue... I think it's just a programming error. If you edit the photo by cropping it just a little bit in your phone, it will save as jpg and you can text/upload it.
Isaac Alexander (3 years ago)
very useful, cheers!!

i downloaded the app in my samsung s5, it is working but i am not getting the live preview in my smartphone. any advice? thanks in advance.
This question may sound stupid but does this change the image quality?
Me Libertarian (3 years ago)
No stupid question. The image quality of a transferred photo is terrible. Acceptable for mobile devices but is does compress a lot
indira169 (3 years ago)
Thank you so much, I transferred my pictures in less than 2 minutes.
JakeysMom07 (3 years ago)
Thank-you for the step by step. Far more helpful than reading 14 pages of information in 3 different chapters.... I might be exaggerating, but not much. :)
Upendra Wickramasinghe (3 years ago)

ITJungles (3 years ago)
Suleman, did you have a problem with transferring the photos? or do you know there is a different of doing it wirelessly?
Faheem Ahmed (3 years ago)
Hello, thanks for u tutorials. Just wan ask if we can setup password for wifi to connect with other devices?
eventfulnonsense (3 years ago)
Can I use my Eye Fi SD Card simultaneously while the wifi is on?
eventfulnonsense (3 years ago)
+ITJungles Thanks for the reply, actually what the camera does,,, when the wifi is activated it auto off the eye fi card.
ITJungles (3 years ago)
You can have both Wi-Fi on, but only one connection to your smart device is possible at any one time.
Enmanuel Sosa (3 years ago)
do this work for camera D3100 Nikon?
eventfulnonsense (3 years ago)
No hope for the Nikon D3100 hundred, I've tried everything. That is why I've traded my Nikon D3100 for the D5300 and got a fair deal.
ITJungles (3 years ago)
According to the app's description D3100 is not in the list.
Iced Clock (4 years ago)
Can you also transfer videos?
Christian Bernard (2 years ago)
It won't let me transfer the videos, how do I do it
ITJungles (3 years ago)
Yes you can.
Htubu Maran (4 years ago)
I couldn't fine the one you use WMU in app. How did you get it in your phone?
ITJungles (4 years ago)
You have to download it from AppStore for Apple devices or PlayStore for Android Devices.
Venkata Madhira (4 years ago)
How to download videos from Nikon d5300 using wifi?
ITJungles (4 years ago)
The camera gives out Wi-Fi signal which you can connect your mobile device to and download the files. You cannot do this through a local Wi-Fi network.
Kareem Aly (4 years ago)
thanks for the tutorial
The LimeBox (4 years ago)
doesnt work, mobile adapter doesnt detect. Ive done everything on the internet that you can do. WHAT THE FUCK
eventfulnonsense (3 years ago)
+Optimized Gaming I thought so the same before, just touch menu in the main screen of your Nikon Mobile Utility and turn on live view.
ITJungles (4 years ago)
Do you mean your mobile phone doesn't detect the Nikon Camera WiFi? Make sure the Nikon camera has enough battery power.
The LimeBox (4 years ago)
No its still the same for me, its a pain in the ass
Jessica Smithey (4 years ago)
Have you found a solution? I am having the same problem! I have searched all over Internet for an answer, no help. I called nikon customer support, after waiting to talk to someone for just under 90 minutes, I hung up.
Amit Kandwal (4 years ago)
really helpful, thanks
ITJungles (4 years ago)
You are welcome Amit.
Giedrius Naudžiūnas (4 years ago)
