Thanks for the video and all your help. Question: if we want to keep this free and not install the TaxJar add-on do we have to enter all tax info for every state? It seems crazy to me that there wouldn't be an easier way to do this...? Is there a way on this new version to just leave out all the tax info, and I'll deal with it at tax season? Also, if we make less than a certain amount annually can we claim it as a hobby and not pay tax? And is there a way to make a BOGO deal on this theme? If so, how?

Hi just trying to do tax on my site it's not working out. Like how come when you include tax it changes from $37.50 to $34.88 in the checkout at the same rate? It's not calculating 15% tax properly on mine I get some number like your end one.
ROSCOEV (2 years ago)
No that doesn't help that is about shipping I just want it to calculate 15% of the order properly. And say includes $15 tax. Instead it has some other number that I'm not sure how it calculates it. So I'm just leaving tax off my site.

Hi Darrel, When setting up tax and shipping if I'm an Admin and I am the one getting a percentage of everything sold and I'm not selling because its a marketplace should I set up tax for everyone else and each state and their percentage or just my state because this is the state my place of business is from? does that make sense lol sorry... its a marketplace...
Eclectic Cat (2 years ago)
From TaxJar: "Thanks for reaching out.  Currently, our API will treat all shipping in New York as taxable. Although we are working on adding support to allow our customers to make changes to shipping taxability on a state by state basis for their particular business setup, unfortunately, we don't offer a way to override this setting just yet. We're prioritizing a fix for this as soon as we can, and I've added you to our list of customers who will be notified as soon as this feature is improved!  Sorry I couldn't be of more help at the moment.  Please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you!"
Darrel Wilson (2 years ago)
welp, thats where my help draws the line lol. good luck
Eclectic Cat (2 years ago)

Christine Hajari (2 years ago)
I have set up my site, but I am having MAJOR issues when it comes to shipping.. I have set up shipping with both UPS and USPS, but for some reason when I do a test order of more than one item it wants to charge shipping basically per item, instead of a weighted total, any idea how to address this?
Darrel Wilson (2 years ago)
this should help you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2YWFhMwwrU

Hi Darrel, you're a God sent. Would you please make a tutorial on how to add UPS, USPS, DHL, etc to WooCommerce and how the label printing works? Or if you made one or know of some video, can you please share the link? We're making a clothing store that ships to the USA and international from New York. I would really appreciate it. Thanks

Darrel Wilson (2 years ago)
thanks and good luck!
Great video but I'm having a problem and I hope you can help. For some reason on the Cart and Checkout page it shows Subtotal $22.29, Shipping Free Shipping, Total $22.29 (includes $0.00 Tax). It is not calculating the Tax. In the Woocommerce/Settings/General tab my setting are Base location = US Illinois | Selling location = Sell to specific country | Sell to specific country = US | Default customer location = Shop base location | Enable Taxes is checked | On the Tax tab Prices entered with tax = No I will enter prices exclusive of tax | Calculate Tax based on = Shop base address | Shipping class = Standard | Rounding = unchecked | Additional tax classes = Reduced rate and zero rate | Display Prices in shop = Excluding tax | Display Prices During Cart and Checkout = Including tax | Price display suffix = N/A | Display tax total = As single total | Under Standard Rates Country code = US | State = * | City = * | Rate = 8.25. I am stumped! Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for any help.
Darrel Wilson (2 years ago)
good luck mate! glad you figured it out
Never mind I figured it out. You can go to individual Products and edit the setting there. Change Tax status from none to Taxable. I have over 10,000 products though so that is not a good solution. I am using WP All Import and their woocommerce plugin. I am going to try to edit the WP All Import template using the WP All Import Woocommerce plugin area and re-run the import and see if that will do it. Problem is it takes about 9 hours to run the import. Wish me luck!
Jerry Bustamente (2 years ago)
Ah. Nevermind. Someone else asked that question below. Great vid.

Darrel Wilson (2 years ago)
go to your accounts in the woocommerce settings. You should find a spot for your email
Jayne Ashwin (2 years ago)
Yes it is an awesome feeling.... nothing can stop me now! I didn't get an email about the order..... And if I go onto the order I find nowhere to print.... :( Please give me the page where we can link our website for others to see mine has a few teething problems but it's working.... just need to be able to print.... please help! It says I need a pio-setting but there is nothing under my order!
Darrel Wilson (2 years ago)
lol its the best feeeling huh You and they should have received an email claiming about the order. You can just use that or go to your order sections in woocommerce, and i believe they might have a printing option for

I appreciated your WooCommerce 2016 Update video very much. It was the most relevant to what I am trying to learn. The problem I face is that I have four similar products that customers use depending on which configurations they need (They are all priced the same). We flat rate ship though the post office and charge shipping on the number they order. For example we charge $3.50 in shipping for 1 to 4 items no matter what configuration they get. The way the site is now, if they get one of each it charges them $3.50 in shipping for each one ($14.00). It should be $3.50 for all four. Can you help me with how to set this up? Thanks, Tom Kuehn

When I go under Woocommerce then to settings it skips the option of the Shipping tab and I can't figure out how to find it. Any suggestions? Thank you
Darrel Wilson (2 years ago)
hey micheal, little confused, what were you trying to do?
GC Adventure Gear (2 years ago)
Hey Darrel, any tutorials or suggestions on WP/Woo Shipping as it relates to Flat Rates, Zones, and Classes? My concern is shipping products flat rate to different zones in more distant states and the higher rates associated. USPS has their flat rate boxes and envelopes, but I have no way to determine what flat rate box to use until the order is complete? Is there a plugin for that?
GC Adventure Gear (2 years ago)
+Darrel Wilson very well. I'll check them out and thanks.
Darrel Wilson (2 years ago)
you can probably do this with the new update. You just need to set "shipping classes" up for your website. Check the other woocommerce tutorial i have for that
Fabio Passos (2 years ago)
Do you have to add every single state to sell outside your own state in the Tax tab? or you just add your own state to sell to anyone from any state?
OchoMedia (2 years ago)
I'm still deciding WooCommerce vs Shopify!!! Does the core installation (out the box) of WooCommerce has real time shipping rates and tax calculations? And does BlueHost would be a good hosting? Thanks,
Darrel Wilson (2 years ago)
yeah try hostgator. This is the company i am an affiliate with. probably the best company on the market. Use darrel99 at checkout!
OchoMedia (2 years ago)
Any hosting recommendations? Thanks.
Darrel Wilson (2 years ago)
well, its much cheaper with woo commerce. You can have people checkout on your website as well for about 5 bucks a month too as a added feature

Darrel Wilson (2 years ago)
hey bent, are you using shipping classes? This is another feature on woocommerce that allows you to ad a certain cost of shipping PER item, I have a tutorial on this feature on my woocommerce tutorial feature https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSGRlWmzKtI Its under shipping classes, you can just skip to that section in the video
Bent Linde (2 years ago)
Hi, I have a question. We have products that weighs up to 100 kg, so we need to charge the Shipping cost based on total Weight or QTY, But it seams not to work, any advice? We use Classes for different Weight Classes, ( ie, 35- 39 kg, 40 - 49 kg,) But when we put two ore more items in the basket, shipping cost do not change.
