Where to drink in Philadelphia | The Craft Beer Channel

119 ratings | 6772 views
We head to Philadelphia for the Craft Beer Convention to find that Philly is one of the best beer-drinking towns in the world. There are so many bars we only scratched the surface, and renamed it Sillydelphia. Get your fill of beer, cheesesteaks and Rocky references here! (if you're wondering about the crutch, Jonny tried to play football and got a stress fracture in his knee). Check out our partners at http://www.beermerchants.com Twitter – @beerchannel Facebook – http://www.facebook.com/thecraftbeerchannel Instagram – @jonnygarrett @mrbradevans Remember to drink responsibly(ish) and not be that guy...

If you didn't catch it the bar he's in about 3/4 of the way through is Garage, not Ray's happy Birthday bar. Ray's is like 30 yards away down the street. Sidenote, Garage is great but also a prime hangout for the Pagans, a pretty hardcore local motorcycle gang

is it?! Good lord. Would have been interesting to see that.

last time I was in philly my cousin took me to tired hands brewery as a matter of urgency. incredible place and will have to check out some of those other spots on my next visit
Ahhhhh Tired hands. I never wanted to leave. A lifetime supply of their tacos and Hophands would be all I need to live.

So happy to see Philly getting some love <3 Don't go to independence beer garden with expectations for massive beer selection, it's cool outdoor seating and all with games, but it's only good for picking up a cheep beer in a plastic cup to drink and look at independence hall, not that it's bad, but if you're going to philly to try craft beer, that's not the place to do it
Didn't go there, seems we didn't miss out!

Love this channel. Please please please don't stop. I'm new to this channel, but love all the videos. Is there one in Boston or Detroit?
Thanks for the kind words! Nothing specific to those towns, though we do go to Boston on our Treehouse/Trillium road trip. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sg4yc118Ck

Monks is the best pub in Philly. Fergie is the man!
that explains why it was so busy!

hopefully you drop by toronto
Mohamed Hammad (2 years ago)
Thanks for the response - Ales by Mail does ship to Canada and I'll try to work it out. Keep putting out great content!
The Craft Beer Channel (2 years ago)
+Mohamed Hammad worldwide delivery is tricky! the best one I think is ales by mail but their range is relatively small. Jonny works for beer merchants who have an amazing range but on ship to Europe!
Mohamed Hammad (2 years ago)
do you guys have any recommendations for online stores to buy some good craft beers? with work picking up i have less and less time to go out and hunt - especially great if they ship to canada

Trillium in Fort Point or Trillium in Canton? Trillium in Canton is great, but the one in Boston is near lots of other cool places to go to. If in Boston, Lord Hobo, Publick House, Stoddards Fine Food and Ale, Deep Ellum, and Sunset Grill & Tap
The Craft Beer Channel (2 years ago)
We went to Fort Point - but also to most of those places too!

We just use the Youtube audio library. Google it and you can have 'em all for free!

fuck yeah half acre is in philly. the one thing that concerns me with bars having that many bottle/can options: what's the turn around on all of that beer? surely some of that stuff has been sitting idle while others cycle regularly. anything over a few dozen worries me a bit. and was the beer garden by the art institute up?! i've been to philly once a couple of years ago and saw all the sights, but some beer garden thing was in the process of being set up so I missed that. looked like a cool thing. one last question: what's the easiest way to keep abreast of your guys' travels? if you're ever in chicago i'd love to buy you guys lunch and beer lol.
Oliver Kolb (2 years ago)
+The Craft Beer Channel right on, thanks for the reply!
The Craft Beer Channel (2 years ago)
We've always thought that about big selections in bars and bottleshops (especially if not in a fridge!) but hopefully it's being well managed by the bar owner. It's down to trust and the consumer checking the dates before buying! Best way to keep up with our travels is by following us on Twitter and Instagram, they're updated daily. Would love to come to Chicago some day!

Ibbofella (2 years ago)
Great video Johnny! Just wondering, have yous ever considered setting up a Patreon account? I'm sure you'd get a good bit of support.
Ibbofella (2 years ago)
+The Craft Beer Channel That's fair enough. Im sure you'll get support with whatever way yous decide to go!
The Craft Beer Channel (2 years ago)
We've thought about it a lot! We're currently looking at ways to monetise - commercial partnerships need to be done really carefully, and with Patreon we worry we don't deserve people's hard earned cash! We'll make up our minds soon.
