@2:42 AB InBev never heard of ... hahaha ... by far the biggest beer company in the world ... probably a practical joke ... hahaha ... well done Jonny ... hahahaha We, here in Belgium, never talk about INBEV but about "the Stella" they famous PILS beer named by one of the founders off this brewery back in the year 1366 greetings from Belgium by Marc (a hobby craft brewer)
maphilib (1 year ago)
OK and now I notice that it was 2 years ago ... hahaha the beers are light 4% and 4.7% but we have fun ... hahaha .... :)
maphilib (1 year ago)
OK, I think I know what you mean ... :) And I hope you enjoyed it !!! What am I drinking at the moment: SAREPTA Session Ale 4.7% alc from www.bryggjabrewery.be in the village Moerkerke Taste: it taste good, flavours are good, well balanced ... but ... but ... to less body ... they got to work on that Will I buy it next time? : NO Will I buy it next time? : YES as they work on that body Next drink: Préaris White Paradise 4% alc from "Vliegende Paard Brouwers" in the village Oedelem (only brewed by 50 liter badges!!!!) You must now if you translate " Vliegende Paard Brouwers" you get " Flying Horse Brewers" ????? Seriously ???? I don't now as brewing is healthy but it definitely works at your creativity ... hahahaha ... :) Taste : It's special ... smell and taste ... also to little body ... not to much hops ... the etiket says brewed with white thee, lychee, lemongrass and rose leafs??? OK this is a beer that is slightly different brewed than usual and that maybe explain the different taste Will I buy it next time? : NO because the taste and smell is to different FOR ME !!!! This 2 beers are probably not available on the international market and are even difficult to buy in Belgium to, because I am a member of " www.belgische-bieren.be " and that is a website and organisation who brings, every 6 weeks, 12 NEW belgium beers from different breweries, ONLY BELGIAN breweries, at their shop. Cheers from Belgium Marc
+maphilib I have no idea if you are being serious or not! But hey! AB Inbev have different faces all over the world - that's partly what makes them so dangerous.

Just a quick question, why is it that Belgian beers are generally very high in alcohol content?
maphilib (1 year ago)
Why have Belgian, or foreign, beers such a high alcohol percentage? Because alcohol serves or served as a preservation technique. Here in Belgium we drink fresh beer, a few days or a few weeks old. Abroad, the beer may be months and even years before being drunk. Light alcoholic beers can taste very bad in a very short time, for example, if the temperature becomes too high. Or exposure to light (such as storage, stores, etc.) That is why we, Belgium, are so famous for heavy beers, abroad ... But we have a lot off light alcohol content beers ... more famous is ... HOEGAARDEN or CELIS WHITE By the way, my favorite daily beer is PIEDEBOEUF TAFELBIER with an alcohol content of 1.1%. And that as a hobby craft brewer ... :) Clarification: PIEDEBOEUF is a brand name (if you translate PIEDEBOEUF (French) = FOOT of COW TAFELBIER (Dutch) means TABLE BEER Cheers from Belgium

Cheers for info, it's mainly just because I'd like to try and get into Belgian beer but I dont like the big burning sensation you get with high alcohol beers. I dont think I've ever really seen a 4% or 5% belgian ale, like a Blond for instance
Haha! A quick question he says! That's one hell of a question, with a lot of answers, all of which have contributed in a few ways. Cafe culture (as opposed to pub culture), traditional use of sugar in the brewing, the high-attenuating yeasts, a ban on spirits after WWI, the whim of priests at Westmalle in the 1900s that informed Trappist brewing...erm... Anyone else got something to add?
SLM3573 (2 years ago)
are you going this year again??
The Craft Beer Channel (2 years ago)
+SLM3573 sadly not some rude relative of mine decided to get married that weekend.

Anheuser-Busch InBev? Oh dear. What are they doing at a beer festival. They don't know anything about brewing.
hermest99 (2 years ago)
I feel bad for you that they didn't bring the great hand-made (quite expensive at 15 euros) Paix Dieux glasses, instead you got a normal Bon Secours glass.

AB Inbev, have you never heard??????? In what universe do you live? They are the biggest brewery of the world. This Brazilian brewery bougth a lot of breweries in the world and put in their name. AB InBev was formed through successive mergers of three international brewing groups: Interbrew from Belgium, AmBev from Brazil, and Anheuser-Busch from the United States. And now they have Sab Miller. AND I FUCK HATE THEM. It is so difficult here in Brazil, to make my friends to try good beer, because they just want to drink the shit beer made with corn at temperature ate - 5 celcius, because the marketing of AB Inbev is so powerful that make most of beer drinks, blind to what the marketing say. And I am going to search for this festvial, because I want to go
The Craft Beer Channel (3 years ago)
it was a joke chap! next to all the small family brewers it was crazy they were there, so we thought we'd take the piss a bit. We're well aware of them and the havoc they reap.

Hi! I work in a bar in the Netherlands and we sell 1750+ different beers.. I advise you to look into the dutch craft breweries!! Brouwerij Het Uiltje, Kees, Emelisse, Jopen etc. they do everything, from a Quadruple IPA (11% abv) to a black Barleywine aged in 1996 Mortlach SIngle malt whiskey casks.. (15,6 abv) just a hint!!
The Craft Beer Channel (3 years ago)
we love emelisse, jopen and de molen. We'll look up some more!

Just wanted to say I love the channel, especially these travelling ones - beer tourism is the best. I know it's a long shot, but I would like to suggest you guys check out Tallinn in Estonia for an alternative beer tour. Similar to Barcelona, it's not a place you think of for beer but it has a number of cracking bars and breweries there and I've been trying to make people go there for a while now to check out the goodness! There's some wonderful bars (Olleteek, Pohjala Speakeasy, Hells Hunt) and some cracking breweries (Pohjala, Lehe, Puhaste, Vormsi, Ollenaut and more). I know that you can get there super cheap from Stansted and Gatwick too! Regardless of all that, keep up the great work! By far the best beer channel on youtube!
The Craft Beer Channel (3 years ago)
+flicky hey! Thanks for the kind words! Lots more travelling coming. We're off to Norway next week, then New York the week after that. Oh, and our Oktoberfest content goes live tomorrow too! We've had some nice beer from Tallinn before - Sori brewery they were called. Would love to get over then one day.

I am a bit of a fan of glasses and so many of those glasses were lovely. Especially those Silly Beer glasses. Amazing curvature and shape.
The Craft Beer Channel (3 years ago)
We are big fans of the right glass!
dailyhotguy (3 years ago)
I could listen to you talk about beer all day. Yay, beer!
IceboundTub (3 years ago)
On the contrary to what I say in the video, Bastogne Ardennes Stout is made with American (Mosaic) AND European hops (Hallertau & Belgian Golding).

.....What a beer list!! Great to see a packed beer event, cheers for sharing the vid, Mike.
Mel B (3 years ago)
Ah, to be back in Brussels again...I'm jealous lol Looks like you had some good brews. I actually enjoyed the Silly Pink, its a grapefruit beer.
Benedikt Rausch (3 years ago)
Just in case it wasn't a joke and for people who don't get it :) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AB_InBev_brands they are Budweiser, Corona, Stella Artois and Becks :D
The Craft Beer Channel (3 years ago)
thanks for the clarification! some people missed the joke!
Wilian Amaral (3 years ago)
AB InBev. The biggest beer company in the world. Resulted from the fusion between the belgian Interbrew and the brazilian Ambev. It owns 20% of the world's beer market and holds ownership of brands such Corona, Stella Artois, Budweiser, Lefe, Hoegaarden, Quilmes, Beck's among others.. so yeah! you'd heard of them.
Wilian Amaral (3 years ago)
There's a silent war going on. AB InBev bought recently the Colorado brewing and the Wäls brewing to answer the Brasil Kirin group, which bought Eisenbahn, Baden Baden and Devassa  - the "pioneers" on craft beer in Brasil on the last 15 or so years. It seems some are refusing the pressure finding their way on trending gourmet pubs. Brasil is now going over a craft beer "boom". Our oktoberfest loses in size only for Munich's and the big guys are aware of this potential ( not affected by the financial crisis - witchcraft I think). All I know is I keep brewing my own while dreaming on make it an income source other than epic hangovers.
The Craft Beer Channel (3 years ago)
+Wilian Amaral shit, really? are they finding it east or are some refusing? that's really bad news for good beer in a great emerging beer nation.
Wilian Amaral (3 years ago)
#TrueStory, +The Craft Beer Channel. Here in Brazil they're buying each and every small craft brewery which conquers a tiny market slice...
The Craft Beer Channel (3 years ago)
+Wilian Amaral and soon perhaps owners of SAB Miller too...
AnalogueInQatar (3 years ago)
Wow. Wish I was there!

Paix Dieu means Peace God, it comes from "Bon Secours" which means "Good Help". Brasserie de Bastogne's great, they produce very good products. De Ryke's great too, check out the other beers they have. And you like your Orval don't you ... Remeber, i've got some aged one in the cellar !

+The Craft Beer Channel This baby is an imperial stout.

+Jarastlad so long as it ain't super hoppy!
Jarastlad (3 years ago)
+Steve Peters When you are looking into saving beer for later, there are three enemies : Light, Temperature ... and Yourself ! You just have to be particularily patient and let that beer slowly become even better...
Nevets t. Smith (3 years ago)
+Jarastlad "keep it for the best of times" I know that thought process. I have a Mikkeller that's no longer being brewed that's been waiting for me for about a year now. I'm refusing to drink until I have a life changing experience and I'm in the best of moods.
Jarastlad (3 years ago)
+The Craft Beer Channel I keep it for the best times. When you'll have a chance to pop over in the luxembourgish province for instance ^^ (You have to check out the store called Miorge-Mihoublon by the way, it's one of the best in the country !)

I know this may be a controversial question and a bit off topic, but what football club to you support or are a fan of? I'm a Barça fan from the states :D
The Craft Beer Channel (3 years ago)
+Al3xTrucho20 well, the Brad isn't a football guy but Jonny supports his old hometown of Oxford. Even though they are rubbish.
